Team India and Australia have announced their squad for the upcoming third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy and OD series.
Australia Test Team decided to leave India for home instead of additional practice after losing two straight Test matches in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, drawing criticism. Eight days before the Indore Test, on Tuesday, half of Australia’s players had already left for home. But, Australia will probably get Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green back for the forthcoming match in Indore, which would be a timely boost.
Australian players returned home:
- Pat Cummins
- David Warner
- Ashton Agar
- Josh Hazlewood
- Todd Murphy
- Mitchell Swepson
- Lance Morris
- Matthew Renshaw
David Warner, who is unable to compete in the remaining Border Gavaskar Trophy matches owing to an elbow injury, is also going back to Australia along with Cummins, who returned home due to a family medical emergency. Due to an Achilles issue, Josh Hazlewood is also out, while Ashton Agar is returning home because the club management has no plans for him in the series.
Instead, he will play in the Sheffield Shield along with Pacer Lance Morris. Toddy Murphy is dealing with a side issue, and Mitchell Swepson is already in Australia allowing Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green a chance to return.
Australia expected XI for the third Test:
- Travis Head
- Usman Khawaja
- Marnus Labuschagne
- Steve Smith
- Peter Handscomb
- Cameron Green
- Alex Carey
- Pat Cummins (c)
- Mitchell Starc
- Todd Murphy
- Nathan Lyon
